Trev Writes: The picture on the left is of my dog Leu, supposedly the name means Lion in Romanian which is where Leu comes from. He was a street dog and was hit by a car and suffered a broken leg. This was his good fortune as in Romania street dogs are brutally killed in the most horrendous ways. These sad killings are well backed by the Romanian Government that encouraged these mass killings of the street dogs in order to rid them from the streets. Leu ended up in a run down shelter. Having seen him on the internet requesting help we didn’t hesitate to offer him a good home. The rescue began to get him into Holland but that is another story!
He has been with us now for 15 months. He is well behaved and remarkably intelligent even knowing some commands in the English Language once he arrived, this obviously is a result of his history but that will now always remain a mystery. We have tried on a number of occasions to train him on a personal and professional level to how we want him to be, sadly that never really proves fruitful as he gets what he wants but, let me stress, without being naughty he has his ways!!
He is full of character now, it is hard to believe that this same animal was the same dog that was rescued. A dog that knew nothing about play or obviously much kindness. His instincts are still strong within him from his time on the streets, I doubt those will ever change. Leu loves human company as well as other dogs. Sadly, other animals may suffer much worst than just a lick if he got the chance!
